A Riot Games' employee announced the new changes for patch 10.9 and even though they don't seem that big, we could still see some shifts in the top lane meta.
Mark Yetter, Riot Games' lead gameplay designer, has revealed the intended changes we will most likely see in the 10.9 patch. There are some adjustments made for the top lane and that's why we prepared a list of champions you should play in that position.
S tier:
- Darius
- Fiora
- Wukong
Even though Wukong will see some nerfs in the upcoming patch, the changes aren't significant enough to kick him out off the S tier.
A tier:
- Mordekaiser
- Urgot
- Cho'Gath
- Aatrox
- Maokai
- Garen
- Jax
- Nasus
- Renekton
- Ornn
The intended buffs will improve Cho'Gath's power in the top lane and that's why we moved him to the A tier. He's probably the most reliant AP top lane pick, especially in a team composition that lacks magic damage.
B tier:
- Shen
- Kled
- Sett
- Kalista
- Renekton
- Malphite
- Irelia
- Poppy
- Illaoi
- Camille
- Pantheon
- Rumble
- Sylas
Sett's Haymaker (W) nerf in 10.8 didn't seem too big to at first, but a decrease to his overall win rate proved otherwise, which is why he got demoted to the B tier.
C tier:
- Kayle
- Jayce
- Gnar
- Gangplank
- Yorick
- Tryndamere
- Vladimir
- Riven
- Kalista
- Trundle
- Kennen
There wasn't any mention of the changes related to the Blade of the Ruined King. This means that the item will probably stay the same which is good news for a majority of the melee bruisers.
It should be noted that the list is made for Diamond and the ranks below. Any name that isn't listed here should be probably be avoided since there are champions with a similar kit but a bigger contribution to a team composition overall.
