Helldivers 2 is a shooter survival game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios for PC and PlayStation 5. The game is a direct sequel to the 2015 top-down shooter Helldivers.
In Helldivers 2, players dive into different planets to fight against Terminid and Automatons in a mission to protect Super Earth from invasion. With difficulty levels increasing, players face more enormous Terminid strains such as the Charger, Bile Spewer, and Bile Titan.
From the advanced Terminid group, the Chargers will give you a hard time if you try to take them down headfirst. So, if you're going to take down the Chargers in Helldivers 2, here are a few valuable strategies you should consider.
How to Defeat Chargers Easily
Chargers mostly appear on medium to high-level planets. They can be typically found near bug breaches and nests. While normal bugs chase you aimlessly, the Charges will mow you down once they set their target on you. Moreover, they bear thick armored skin making it impossible to kill them headfirst.
If you face a Charger out in the open, here are the strategies you should consider using to take it down -
- Chargers only target a single Helldiver at a time. So, if a Charger starts chasing you, start running and tell your team to create a diversion.
- Lure a Charger in your direction and make it hit a large rock. The Charger will immediately get stunned, allowing you to deal some damage.
- The Chargers are fully armored with only their back part exposed. However, the exposed part is not their weak spot, so don't waste your bullets shooting the back side of a Charger.
- Rather than shooting it blindly, try to shoot off the armour on its legs as it will open a weak spot. You can do this by getting its attention and directing your teammates to shoot at its legs.
- To deal direct damage to the Armored legs, you can the MG43. It will deal direct damage to the legs, taking them out quickly.
- Moving on to stratagems, try using the Orbital Strike on the Charger. It will stun the Charger for an adequate amount of time, allowing you to finish it off with any special weapon.
- A very niche tip for all Helldivers - Get yourself killed by the Charger. After a while when you redeploy in the Hellpod, aim it at the Charger's spine. The Charger will end up dying almost instantly. However, if you don't end up hitting the Charger, the bad news is you'll probably get trampled by it.
Aside from these strategies, try to deal explosive damage to the Charger. Moreover, use the Jump Pack when fighting Chargers, you can easily dodge its attacks by jumping into the air.
