The first area in Hades 2, the latest rogue-like RPG from Supergiant Games, is Erebus, and at the end of this area, you will be presented to the first real boss, your own Headmistress Hecate, who won't let you leave this place until she is completely sure you can survive on your own in the harsh world of the Greek Underworld and above and beyond.
This boss fight can be really tricky to win, mostly because of the boss's aggression and the mobs she spawns during the second and third phase of the fight.
If you find this boss too difficult, we've prepared a guide with several tips and tricks on how to beat Hecate and which strategies to use. So without further ado, let's begin.
How to beat Hecate in Hades 2
Hecate can be a very hard boss, depending on your skill or the time you've spent inside the game before you face her. Keep in mind that you're supposed to lose several times against her, so do not despair; you'll eventually beat her.
The triumph against this boss, as is the case with almost all bosses in this game, is heavily dependent on luck and the equipment you'll gain prior facing her. Since this is a rogue-like game, you'll have a couple of choices about which path to take, and my strongest advice is to avoid all paths marked with a small skull; those ones contain mini bosses and will most likely deplete most of your health.
Once you are inside the boss arena, try this strategy: always hit Hecate with two light strikes and then dodge to the side to avoid her blasting attacks; it matters not which weapon you're using, although I strongly suggest magic stuff. Keep doing that, and soon she will lose around 33 per cent of her health.
Now, she spawns mobs. In this phase, just ignore her. Run around the arena to kill her mobs; using trees to your advantage to cause environmental damage is advisable here. Once all the mobs are dealt with, return your focus on her. Again, hit her twice and dodge to the side.
In the third phase, she will start spawning doubles; use the same strategy with them as well: two hits, one dodge to the side. During this phase, she will curse you and turn you into a sheep. Do not try to avoid the curse, you won't be able to; simply dodge the traps and mobs until the curse is lifted. When you regain control, eliminate mobs, just as you did during the second phase, and then turn your focus on her, and before you know it, she will fall.
