Although Riot Games has faced criticism for neglecting older champions to focus on producing skins for more profitable ones, there are some positive signs that they are giving more attention to less popular champions in League of Legends.
With the recent Skarner rework and the Lee Sin VSU, there's hope that we'll see more visual updates for champions to bring them in line with the current aesthetics of League of Legends.
Older champions in League of Legends started to seem outdated compared to newer ones. Recently, the developers decided to give Ashe and Nidalee some TLC as these two cougars were long overdue for a touch up.
All VFX Updates To Ashe and Nidalee
The development team introduced significant visual effects (VFX) updates to Nidalee's entire kit and Ashe's ultimate, giving these older visuals a much-needed modern makeover. These changes are now live on the League of Legends Public Beta Environment (PBE), allowing players to test them, report any bugs, and offer feedback.
Ashe
Ashe received some improvements from the development team, making her ultimate's hitbox clearer so players can more easily dodge her arrow. Ashe's R ability was updated to address concerns about the visual effects not aligning with the hitbox. A new ground visual effect (VFX) was added to indicate the width of the arrow, and the hitbox was adjusted to align with the visual cue, enhancing clarity.
Nidalee
Nidalee's Q ability, the spear throw, now has visual effects that intensify with distance, indicating its increased damage. Her Cougar-form W skill now displays an area-of-effect (AoE) indicator across all skins. Additionally, themed skins now have unique effects: Snow Bunny Nidalee features snow, Pharaoh Nidalee has sand, and so on.
These quality-of-life changes bring improved visual clarity, making it easier to play with or against these champions. It's always great to see updates that enhance the game's aesthetic appeal. Let's hope Riot Games maintains this direction by revisiting other champions that need reworks and visual refinements.
