Learn how DMZ works in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, including the Forward Operating Base, missions, progression, deployments, loot and Threat Levels.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s extraction-based mode, DMZ encourages looting objectives and escaping alive. Multiplayer departure, every time you go into battle you have something at risk.

DMZ will launch on October 23 alongside Campaign and Multiplayer. Players venture into the battlefield of Hajin to finish tasks, track down high-value targets, and return with treasure to their DMZ home base.

The FOB Is Where Your DMZ Progression Is Based

The Forward Operating Base serves as the hub for your DMZ campaign. From here, you can manage your Operators, load out your Loadouts, review your Missions and Orders, test weapons and deploy into your next mission.

You’ll start with a small but functional FOB but can unlock new Stations as you complete successful Operations in Hajin. FOB Stations include:

  • 3D Printer: Craft gear and use Resources to level up your FOB Stations.
  • Gunsmith: Modify weapons you’ve extracted and purchase attachments with DMZ Cash. Create weapons from Weapon Manuals you find during missions.
  • Vendor: Purchase rotating supplies, weapons and gear with DMZ Cash.
  • Bounty Leaderboard: View information about wanted PvP players haunting Hajin.
  • Boss Board: View information about powerful Lieutenants and other targets of interest.
  • Dog Tag Case: Show off Dog Tags you find from slain Operators.
  • DMZ Progression: Level up from 1–70 to unlock FOB upgrades and other rewards.

Three Ways You Can Deploy Into Hajin

Players can tackle missions in three different ways depending on their playstyle. Story Missions allow you to complete narrative objectives scattered throughout Hajin that yield high rewards. Dynamic Operations place players into live objectives.

By completing Dynamic Operations you’ll earn DMZ Cash, XP, and increasingly better Supply Drops that reward the whole squad. Alternatively, you can choose to ignore the mission at hand and select Free Roam to enter Hajin and take your time discovering the map.

How Do You Level Up Fast In DMZ?

Running and completing objectives is your bread-and-butter for earning DMZ XP and leveling up your gear. Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, and completing Orders should be your focus when trying to move through the ranks.

Lieutenants and Commanders are also lucrative targets to take down. These strong enemies spawn all over Hajin and will net you weapons, valuable loot, and a hefty amount of XP.

Speaking of loot, harvesting Resources and other materials during your deployments will be critical for upgrading your weapons and equipment at the FOB.

Finishing missions, gathering loot, and survival will net your squad a score on your After Action Report. An S ranking on your deployment will grant you some of the best rewards.

Vehicles will help you traverse the large map of Hajin. You’ll have access to land, sea, and air vehicles. Gas Stations can repair and fuel your rides for free.

Threat Levels Can Make Any Area Dangerous

Hajin consists of multiple areas that each have their own Threat Level. This means different areas of the map can pose more risk than others.

Player aggression can cause enemies to escalate based on the Threat Level you’re in. Players will need to learn how to balance loud gunfire with stealth if they plan on making it out of Hajin alive.

Operators, Missions, Loot, Boss enemies, and an upgradable FOB open up a lot of depth for DMZ. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s new game mode should serve as a welcome alternative to regular multiplayer.
