In Blasphemous 2, you'll run into all sorts of items as you traverse the big world of Cvstodia. All these items have their purpose in the game, including the rosary beads, which are a form of passive perks that will provide you with significant bonuses.
Some beads will increase your damage output while others will make you more resistant to various types of damage like fire, lighting or poison damage.
You'll start with one rosary bead slot unlocked but very early in the game, you can start unlocking the rest of the slots on your rosary. All you need to do is find an NPC that will do that for you and provide her with certain items in return. Read on below for full instructions on that.
Blasphemous 2 rosary bead unlocking
To unlock more rosary bead slots, you need to talk to a female NPC, who can be found in Streets of Wakes.
In order to get to Streets of Wakes very early in the game, you need to get to the Choir of Thorns, which can be accessed through Grilles of Ruin. The next step is to find Procession of Shadows NPC. It's a carriage that will take you to secret locations all over Cvstodia if you give them special tokens like Forgotten Tribute. One token can be found in Sea of Ink, a location accessed through Profundo Lamento.

The first trip will take you to a hidden area in Profundo Lamento from where you can reach Streets of Wakes. The carriage will give you an item called Abandoned Rosary Knot which you need to give to the NPC in Streets of Wakes in order to unlock slots on your rosary.
Once you're in Streets of Wakes, finding the NPC is pretty straightforward. Here's a map pointing at the NPC:
You can have a total of five rosary beads equipped at a time, but there are numerous beads that can be found in the world that provide special bonuses to the Penitent One so make sure to explore every corner of Cvstodia.
