Blasphemous

Blasphemous is a punishing action-platformer developed by The Game Kitchen and published by Team17, steeped in the dark iconography of Spanish religious folklore and Catholic guilt. You play as The Penitent One, a sole survivor of a mysterious massacre, cutting through a twisted, cursed land known as Cvstodia in search of salvation - or something like it.

With tight, deliberate combat that rewards patience over button-mashing, a hauntingly beautiful pixel art style, and a lore-rich world that reveals itself gradually, Blasphemous sits comfortably alongside the best of the Soulslike and Metroidvania genres. A sequel, Blasphemous 2, followed in 2023 and expanded the formula considerably.
