World's biggest gaming expo - E3 2019 - is just around the corner, and traditionally, a lot of rumours and leaks about potential game announcements start to appear a couple of weeks before the show officially kicks off, and this year it's no different.
Earlier this year, rumours suggested that the creators of Bloodborne and Dark Souls - From Software - will announce their new project on E3 2019. The latest leak, which originally appeared on 4Chan, then shared on ResetEra forum takes things a bit further by offering a lot of juicy details about the game.
The development title of the game is Project Rune, it's a Norse-themed, spiritual successor to Dark Souls with Frost Giants, Draugrs and Nokkens. The story takes place in a kingdom during "100 year civil war" and it begins after the disappearance of a group of king's knights, who went on a search for a powerful artefact, which would give them "the upper hand in the wars to come".
All of the knights who searched for this artefact have gone missing except for the one that is controlled by the player. Speaking about the main character, players will get to choose from three unique options - "a hunter with a longbow, a warrior with a great shield and giant club and a wizard that can cast sorceresses [sic] out of a magic book".
Apparently, Yui Tanimura, who helmed Dark Souls II will direct the new game with the help of Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls, Bloodborne) who will co-direct the project.
The game will also have multiplayer in which players will have the opportunity to invade other player's worlds to cooperate and help them or kill the world's host.
From Software is using the Unreal Engine for the new game, which makes sense, since the developer recently confirmed their interest in Epic Games' tools.
And last but not least, the leaker claims From Software will reveal a cinematic trailer on E3, not gameplay. The game will be multiplatform, published by Bandai Namco.
