PlayStation Network numbers are not far behind, with the service registering 90 million monthly users by end of November 2018. Sony sound pretty satisfied with the continual "strong growth" of PSN and they thanked their users for a great year.
You had to be living under a rock not to be aware of the Sony have had with their exclusives, such as Spider-Man surpassing 9 million before the holiday season even started, but their overall games sales were pretty great too.
It turns out that Sony flogged more than 50.7 million games in the 2018 holiday season alone. This brings their total PlayStation 4 games sales up to 876 million as of 31 December 2018, which means that the 2018 holiday season accounted for 5.78 per cent of their total sales.
President and CEO of Sony, John Kodera, said, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our passionate community around the globe, and our partners, for helping us achieve these milestones. This year, we will bring more enhanced experiences to our fans along with a highly anticipated lineup of games that are only possible on PS4."
We suppose that the last sentence means we'll see Sony try to best their performance of 2018 via exclusives and while we can't say we're huge fans of the concept, it's not hard to see why the company are sticking to them.
Sony's hardware has barely lacked in quality games but some of the most memorable titles of 2018 ended up launching for PlayStation 4 only. If the company can keep the quality up, who'd say no to that?

That being said, it also remains to be seen whether other developers will follow in Fortnite's footsteps, in terms of requesting that Sony lift the cross-play gates for the rest of the gaming world.
