Star Wars Battlefront II's progression system is one of the most heinous acts of pay to win in AAA games and caused some massive backlash. It seems enough suits at EA took notice and decided to actually revamp the system altogether.

Battlefront II's progression system is finally getting a revamp, about four months after it caused a huge public outcry thanks to EA's profit maximisation techiques. The company has announced an update that is coming on 21 March 2018 is and going to change how players upgrade weapons, heroes, ships and the way they will grind loot boxes.

The update announcement on EA's Battlefront II blog states that with this update ''Star Cards, or any other item impacting gameplay, will only be earned through gameplay and will not be available for purchase''.  One of the ''features'' of this update is that you will retain any progress and unlocks you've made so far.

Would you believe it? They're not stripping your progress away paid for or not, how generous.

The game isn't rid of loot boxes yet though as they aren't removed, they are just gained in a different way now. Crates can no longer be purchased for real life money, and they will be purely cosmetic. You still can't get a pink Darth Vader from them.

There are new appearances coming to the game in April and they will be purchasable through in-game credits or crystals. These can be bought directly from the store, not through gambling with loot boxes.

More changes are announced, including new game modes. Jetpack Cargo is named as an example of these ''radically different'' game modes that are coming to the game in near future.

There isn't any mention of Wilson loot boxes on their site but it is likely they will reappear if enough players come back to the game.
