Yakuza fans are likely in for a treat soon since the remake of the original Yakuza 2 is headed for release on July 30, 2020, as a faithful recreation of the things players enjoyed.
Yakuza Kiwami 2, the remake of the original Yakuza 2 is coming to Microsoft Windows and Xbox One in just over two weeks. Player base will finally be expanded by these two platforms as it was previously available only on PS4. Furthermore, the devs really mean it when they sake "remake" as the game has been rebuilt in the Dragon Engine, the same one used for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
In other words, the players will be able to get much better graphics and much better immersion due to fewer loading screens, which is a result of the new engine allowing Kazuma to transition between battles and buildings seamlessly.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will feature various leisure activities in Kamurocho (Tokyo) and Sotenbori (Osaka), to give the players the time to bounce back from the street brawling and weapon-based combat.
For those interested in the story, it takes place one year after Kazuma Kiryu attempted to retire from the yakuza in the first Yakuza Kiwami. As is often the case with these criminal underworld would-be retirees in media, Kazuma gets pulled to the organisation once again. He will find himself in the crossfire of two powerful yakuza organisations on the verge of war.
One of the best features of Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PC and Xbox One is that the game will be available on Xbox Game pass so if you're not sure about committing the money to the title, you might just rent it virtually instead.
