It looks like THQ Nordic could be working on Timesplitters 2 Remake. In their title SpellForce 3: Fallen God, the devs included several in-game referring to TimeSplitters 2 Remake.
THQ Nordic have been on a shopping spree in 2020, acquiring several popular IPs and development studios. The publisher revealed their plans to work on these acquired IPs and we already know they have a ton of project currently in development.
One of these projects could be a remake of a fan-favourite shooter TimeSplitters 2. Last week, THQ Nordic released SpellForce 3: Fallen God on PC and players have since discovered several, interesting in-game items referring to released but also some yet unannounced titles.
These in-game items include Biomutant, Gothic Remake, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom’s remaster and most importantly TimeSplitters 2 Remake. The item's description states the following:
"It's finally coming! The iconic shooter, which has stood the test of time to join the era of modern games."
This certainly suggests that the game is currently in the works and could be officially announced very soon. TimeSplitters fans will, of course, be excited to hear more about the game and we hope this will be a proper remake with stunning visuals and modern shooter mechanics.
THQ Nordic already indicated in 2019 that they are planning to do a future instalment in the popular franchise. Additionally, they hired the original co-director Steve Ellis to help with the development of the next title.
Thanks, VGC.
