Obsidian Entertainment's much-anticipated RPG The Outer Worlds will be available only on Epic Store and Microsoft Store for one year it's been confirmed by Epic Games. The game will release on Steam in 2020, once the exclusive deals expire.

Epic Games announced a fresh batch of exclusives for its Epic Store on their GDC 2019 Unreal keynote. Along with PC ports for , and new Ubisoft games, Epic also snapped up Obsidian's upcoming RPG The Outer Worlds.

The much-anticipated title will release on Epic Store and Microsoft Store as a one-year exclusive, but won't be available on other stores until the exclusive deal expires in 2020.

This is also confirmed on The Outer Worlds' Steam page. "The Outer Worlds will be available on Steam one year after launch on other exclusive digital PC platforms," it's written in the note.

As you can see from the list, a lot of great upcoming titles will swap Steam for Epic Store. Of course, the latest announcement will once again start a blizzard of comments from those who are against Epic's exclusive deals. Some Twitter users said that Epic and Microsoft Stores are two worst platforms for PC games while others are saying that making a game exclusive to a store on PC is "nonsense and anti-consumer".

Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney already talked about some of the comments from players. He said that exclusive games are just one of the ways that Epic will use to battle Steam and that many developers are happy to bring their game to Epic Store which offers better revenue split than the competition.
