Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division have officially announced the date when their delicious RPG The Outer Worlds arrives on Nintendo Switch. So, get your trigger-happy, colonist Joy-Cons ready for 6 March 2020 release.
Halcyon Colony is getting an influx of fresh blood from the Nintendo crowd, and at this point - it's really difficult to gauge who's getting a better deal of the two - Obsidian or the players.
"Whether you choose to zap foes with your shrink ray or charm them with smooth-talking abilities, we know you will make The Board proud. And the fact that you will be able to complete your tasks anywhere you go with the Nintendo Switch is something that makes The Board happy", Obsidian wrote in the announcement.
The Outer Worlds has started off strong both in terms of commercial performance and the trophy cabinet, which is filling up really fast by the way. The gall Obsidian showed by launching it with Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a statement in its own right, and while some called it a gamble - it's certainly one that has paid off.
The boost they'll get from Nintendo's little guy bodes well for the future because the more lucrative The Outer Worlds turns out to be - the sooner we'll be calling it a renowned franchise. In the grander scheme of things, it will be clear proof that there will always be a need for singleplayer RPG experiences, and when done right - financial justification too.
The Outer Worlds launches on 6 March 2020 as a boxed version containing a download code, and as a digital download via Nintendo eShop. It will be priced at $59.99.
