Following the example of its competitors, EA and Valve, Ubisoft has decided to upgrade its Ubisoft Connect launcher by adding some long-awaited new features, launching today a beta version that is already available online.
For example, similar to Steam, it is now possible to stream the game to other players so that they can play it as guests in multiplayer without having to purchase it. The Share Play feature is limited to four participants in multiplayer and is time-limited depending on the game. A Remote Play function is also available, allowing PC games to be streamed to other devices, such as cell phones.
The interface will still be where the changes are the most obvious. We will now have a list of games with graphics in a horizontal position rather than a vertical display of games with classic covers.
Perhaps the biggest change in the new Ubisoft Connect will be the integration of Ubisoft+ into the main game library. In the previous Ubisoft Connect versions, the separate tab was integrated for Ubisoft+ only, and in this new version, all games will be located under one tab, and those you own with your subscription will be marked with the plus sign.
Ubisoft finally admitted that they are not even close to how they would like their launcher to look and behave, but that they are ready to continue improving Ubisoft Connect to make it a launcher that players really enjoy using.
