Valve announced more details about the upcoming competitive events in Dota 2 and confirmed we would have The International this year after the last one was postponed and cancelled.
The International is easily the biggest event of the year for Dota 2 since it brings the best teams in the world together where they face off for the amusement of millions of fans. It would take something huge to make Valve cancel the event with the biggest prize pools in the history of gaming and unfortunately, Coronavirus proved to be just that - to the entire world.
TI10 was cancelled even though the Battle Pass went through and all that money was set aside for the prize pool. However, on May 12, 2021, Valve announced that The International would return in 2021 and the prize pool would be $40,018,195 - the amount that was allocated for the ill-fated TI10 .
It will still be called The International 10 as the number won't be skipped in order to keep up with the last two digits of the contemporary year. TI10 will kick off with the Group Stage on August 5, which will last until August 8, 2021. The main event will then run from August 10 to 15.
Other than that, Valve didn't reveal many details since they are still working on making the competition as safe as possible in order to prevent creating a Covid-19 hotspot.
They did not that more info will be shared during June 2021 so it's safe to say the entire month will be quite eventful for gamers, with E3 happening about that time as well.
