According to the latest reports, The Initiative's new AAA project is indeed a stealth action Perfect Dark game but with a mysterious twist. The game could be revealed at the upcoming Xbox show later this month.
Microsoft's Xbox Game Showcase where the company will reveal their first-party project along with some third-party games is just around the corner. Xbox fans have been talking about the games lineup for the show for quite some time now but Microsoft are keeping everything under the wraps and are ready to proudly reveal their games in a couple of weeks.
Rumour has it one of these new games could be a Perfect Dark reboot from The Initiative. We know that this game from Xbox's newly formed studio will feature various gadgets and a camera surveillance system . This indeed sounds like a stealth game and also makes a lot of sense for Perfect Dark but it seems the game might not be a full reboot.
According to PixelOwl's Logan Meyer, this new game is indeed a stealth action Perfect Dark title but with a twist. Meyer teased the fans over on Twitter with the following message: "Don’t worry Splinter Cell fans, the Initiative has ya covered for stealth action."
On top of this, he replied to an image with Perfect Dark logo with "With a twist" tease. You can check the tweet below.
One Splinter Cell fan stated that Perfect Dark is just not the same as Splinter Cell to which Meyer replied: "You're right. Initiative is better."
All in all, that's a lot of teasing and it clear that this new game is somehow connected to Perfect Dark but it might not be named that way. It could be set in the same universe, though, but that is just speculation at the moment.
Luckily, the Xbox July event is just around the corner so we won't have to wait for too long to see the new game.
