Good Shepherd Entertainment and Ace Team recently released a gameplay trailer for The Eternal Cylinder, giving players a glimpse of the beautifully crafted worlds and their place at the bottom of the food chain.
The Eternal Cylinder is a survival game that will put players in control of a herd of tiny creatures called Trebhums. They will need to keep the herd alive, which will be a bit of a challenge since they start out very weak due to their size and are hinted to be natural prey for various predators.
However, these tiny things can mutate and evolve over time which will give them access to new abilities and amplify their attributes which will help their survival. Players will need to eat both local flora and fauna to grow, after which they will gain access to useful skills such as flying and swimming in order to reach new areas.
On top of that, these mutations will stack which will allow players to make their Trebhums into adept survivalists but the devs and publishers believe this system to be wide enough to never allow two playthroughs to be same.
The survival on the alien planet is not exactly one-dimensional though. Trebhums will need to overcome exploration puzzles, challenges, outwit or outrun predators and discover new areas to continue their journey.
There is also real-time environmental destruction, most of which will be done by the titular Eternal Cylinder. As the name suggests, this geometric form will roll around and obliterate everything in its path so Trebhums will need to be rather resourceful to survive this environmental disaster.
The game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020 while the PC version will come later on but neither version has an exact release date. Furthermore, it will be exclusive on Epic Games Store at launch.
