In recent investor calls, Nintendo's head honchos shed light on their plans for the future, including the news of the paid online service going live in September 2018. Having added as much as 13 games in the last week alone, Nintendo is adding more this week.
You may recall that Nintendo's paid service had initially been slated for Fall 2017, only for the company to push it back into 2018. The original plan was to offer 1, 3 and 12 month membership priced at $4, $8 and $20, respectively. It remains unclear whether the company will stick with this model. Nintendo's president Tatsumi Kimishima didn't go into details, but did say that the official announcement will feature more information.

Last week, the company launched as many as 13 titles, including the likes of Dandara, Black Hole and Aegis Defenders. This week however, they’ve lined up launches of Bayonetta 2, Xeodrifter, Owlboy, The Longest Five Minutes and Fe. Furthermore, , so Nintendo fans might as well get them greenbacks ready.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto also mentioned that the company is looking for ways to enhance the Switch’s appeal so as to cater to as wide an audience as possible. With this in mind, Miyamoto said that Nintendo wants every single person, rather than household, to own their console. "If consumers come to take it for granted that everybody has a Nintendo Switch, then we can create new and very Nintendo genres of play", Miyamoto added.
Nintendo's profits have soared thanks to the Switch, with the company's Q4 2017 being the company's most profitable quarter since as far back as 2009. With such impressive figures under their belt, no wonder the company is contemplating extending the Switch's lifecycle beyond typical console life cycles.
