GSC Game World plan to add NFTs to their upcoming title Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The NFTs will allow players to become a "metahuman" and appear in the game as an NPC.
One of the most anticipated releases of 2022, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl is adding NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The developer of the game, GSC Game World have announced that they will be using blockchain technology to allow players to own something inside the world of Stalker 2.
GSC Game World explain that players can become the world's first "metahumans" which means you can appear in the game as a non-player character (NPC) like a bartender, a comrade or an enemy.
To become this metahuman and appear in Stalker 2, players need to bid for an NFT which offers the appearance in the game. The auction will be held in January 2022 and those who buy the NFT can sell it at a later date.
Your character model would be rendered in very high detail so those who end up with the NFT will have to travel to GSC Game World's studio in Ukraine for a detailed scanning procedure. So basically, you pay a lot of money to GSC to have you scanned and add to the game. That's how we see it.
Interestingly, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer recently said how he is worried about exploitative NFTs in gaming . We wonder what would he think about the NFTs in this Xbox exclusive from GSC Game World.
Thanks, The Verge.
