One of the first announcements for Sony's PlayStation 5 ended up being our favourite web-slinger, whose second instalment is expected to take full advantage of the next-gen console.
Now, we didn't exactly get to see enough for a review, but a few things can be extrapolated as general directions of the new Spidey. For starters, the full name is Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Next up is the new general style, which is clearly following the Into the Spider-Verse formula for an even bouncier and livelier Spider-Man. Hopefully, this translates fully into the game, as the prospect alone is quite attractive.
Unlike his predecessor, which is still quite exquisite mind you, Spider-Man: Miles Morales seems to be featuring daylight cycles and what appears to be changing weather.
You can also catch glimpses of abilities coming in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, like his venom blast. There's some invisibility in play too but that's as far as the tease train goes.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales should be putting Sony's architecture to good use, and its launch date Holiday 2020 means it gets to do so from day one.
That said, Spider-Man: Miles Morales still has some big shoes to fill, because the first instalment's results will not be topped easily.
In fact, Spider-Man was one of the most successful PlayStation 4 exclusives, and its results earned it some high-profile mentions in Sony's financial reports.
Hopefully, Spider-Man: Miles Morales reaches the same heights and it sure looks like the technical part of that task has been made easier with the arrival of PlayStation 5. The more horsepower a studio has, the less they have to worry about technical constraints for telling great stories.
