In his most recent interview, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that he's seen PlayStation 5's demo and while impressed, he still favours Xbox Series X thanks to the games they'll offer and hardware advantage.
Spencer was speaking at the Gamelab Live conference and he's comfortable with Xbox Series X's chances against Sony's next-gen console.
Apparently, he saw PlayStation 5's games demo event and he liked it a lot, even congratulating Sony's CEO Jim Ryan afterwards, a classy move if we've ever seen one. "I thought they did a good job, I thought they do what they do very well", he said.
Nevertheless, he still fancies Xbox Series X for the next-gen fight. "When I think about the position that we're in, with the games that we're going to be able to show and how they’re going to show up, and the hardware advantage that we have, I think we're in a very good position", he added.
An additional benefit of having seen Sony's show is to know your enemy, of course, but Microsoft will still be banking on their own strengths.
Spencer insists that the Xbox Series X team has taken criticism from the first demo on board, so if you're one of those that felt severely underwhelmed - expect a more dazzling show in July. For starters, it will feature Halo Infinite.
"I think the hardware advantages that we have built are going to show up as we’re talking more about our games and frame rates and other things", Spencer said.
