League of Legends pre-season is filled to the brim with speculations about player and coach transfers, but SKT T1 was in the center of attention when they released almost their entire roster. They have now announced five new players joined.
SKT T1 have had a lacklustre season behind them, not even qualifying for the World Championship, bringing sadness to many fans who hoped to see Faker on the big scene once again. Ever since pre-season started, people speculated on whether the roster would see major changes and even jokingly guessed that the organisation would fire everyone and let Faker carry all lanes.
That actually didn't turn out to be far from the truth. On 19 November 2018, SKT T1 released seven players - Thal, Untara, Blank, Pirean, Bang, Wolf and Blossom. Faker, Leo and Effort's contracts were renewed one day later, and on 22 November 2018, the organisation signed five new players - Khan, Crazy, Haru, Clid and Teddy.
Many will immediately recognize Khan and Haru, both of whom had great performances during Season 8. On top of that Khan won the LCK Spring Split 2018 as well as the playoffs with Kingzone DragonX while Haru won the Korea Regional Finals 2018 with Gen.G.
Despite other powerhouse names such as Peanut and PraY being free agents at the moment, fans are happy with the new acquisitions, harbouring high hopes for Clid and Teddy in particular. Many are currently calling this the "redemption arc" for Faker, predicting this team will go far on the international scene.
If this does turn out to be the redemption arc, and SKT manage to win World Championship 2019, it will make them the first team in the history of League of Legends to manage to win the ultimate tournament four times.
The organisation holds several World Championship related records already. For example, they were the first team to ever win the Championship three times and also the first team to successfully defend their World Championship title.
