The NBA basketball star got his original Shaq-Fu game back in 1994 but developers at Saber Interactive and Big Deez Productions have partnered up with Wired Productions to bring the sequel to the much un-requested beat em up game of 1994.

The Shaq Attack is happening once again - twenty four years after it originally released, Shaq-Fu is getting a sequel on modern day platforms. The game is going to be a standard beat 'em up but with a lot of Shaq-aliciousness. Naturally, Shaq did voiceovers, provided his likeness, laid down the soundtrack and influenced the superpowers available throughout the game.

Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn puts players in Shaq's shoes, as he fights through hordes of enemies in the streets in order to avenge his master Ye-Ye. In the game, Shaq's full name is Shaq-Fei Hung and is a poor Chinese rickshaw driver turned martial artist.

Developer Big Deez Productions have used an Indiegogo campaign in order raise the funds necessary to make the game, with an initial $450,000 needed for all development costs.

The goal was met with $473,884 made by Indiegogo backers. After that however, the developers went silent for several years until 2016, when they confirmed the game was almost done.

Shaq-Fu is slated for release on 05 June 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch platforms. The Nintendo Switch version might coincide with the rest of the pack, seeing as how its development began a little.

The company initially had Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and WiiU versions in store as well but with those all but obsolete at the moment, they decided against it.

The original Shaq-Fu was developed in 1994 by Electronic Arts, when they weren't the company we know today, for better or for worse. Shaq-Fu was considered one of the world's worst games, and still is for that matter, which is exactly why it's such a cult-classic.

In fact, many people seem to have enjoyed it the same way we can now enjoy Sharknado or Birdemic but hopefully, the new one will do much better than being famous for all the wrong reasons.
