Square Enix have announced a free trial for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The demo is now available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and it includes the first couple of levels where players are given the task of finding a hidden bomb.
If Square Enix's Tomb Raider series is your cup of tea but for some reason, you are yet to play the latest instalment dubbed Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you'll be happy to hear that publisher announced a free trial version of Lara's latest adventure.
The demo is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and you can download it from Square Enix's official website. Players will get to experience the first few levels of the game, which take place in Mexico on The Day of the Dead. The goal in these first missions is to find and disarm a hidden bomb.
If the first few hours of Shadow of the Tomb Raider end up to your liking and you decide to buy the game, all progress and achievements will be carried over to full version.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider physical sales failed to impress, dropping by more than 70 per cent compared to 2013's Tomb Raider. The game received positive reviews but the average score of 76 was lower than Tomb Raider's and Rise of the Tomb Raider's, which hit the 85 mark.
Eidos' latest title failed to attract interest and a free trial could be Square Enix's plan to boost sales and turn the tide in their favour. Square Enix are not the first publisher to offer a free trial for their game in recent weeks.
Square Enix
EA gifted ten-hour trial for their WW2 shooter Battlefield V after the game's sales dropped 50 per cent when compared to Battlefield 1. Bethesda also tried to increase sales of Fallout 76 but they did not offer a free demo. Instead, they opted for a 50 per cent price drop just days after the release date.
You can find more info about Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Square Enix's official where you can also download the free demo.
