Square Enix have launched a new DLC for their action-adventure Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Dubbed The Serpent's Heart, the expansion sees Lara battling against the evil Kukulkan cultists and invading a fortress to mount a prison break.
Lara Croft is set for another adventure in the tropical regions of the Americas, and this time, she's up against the new threats which are coming in the latest expansion named The Serpent's Heart.
It's the fourth major DLC for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, following the previously released The Forge, The Pillar and The Nightmare. This time, Lara will have to infiltrate an enemy fortress to stage a prison break and then engage in a battle against evil Kukulkan cultists.
If that doesn't sound like enough content for a major expansion, you will also get to complete the Slayer's Gauntlet and navigate through the "roaring rapids in order to receive the power of the serpent god."
Those who complete the challenge tomb will earn a new skill named Divine Bounty which will increase the gold drops from the fallen foes. Additionally, The Serpent's Heart also features a new outfit and weapon. The Dragon Scales outfit will reduce the fire damage, prevent stumbling and accelerate health regeneration. The weapon is the Serpent Lash bow and it deals extra fire damage.
Square Enix also added tombs from the main campaign to Score Attack and Time Attack modes. The playable tombs include Judge’s Gaze, Underworld Gate, Howling Caves, Path of Battle, Temple of the Sun, San Cordoba, Ancient Aqueduct and Thirsty Gods.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the new DLC The Serpent's Heart are available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation. The new expansion is a part of the game's season pass but is also available as a standalone purchase for $4.99.
If you're yet to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Square Enix are offering a which gives you access to the opening levels of the game. If it happens that you like the first couple of hours and decide to purchase the game, the progress and achievements will carry over to the full version.
