Shadow of the Colossus (2018): It's all in your head, man.

Shadow of the Colossus launched back in 2006 to critical acclaim, snatching awards left and right. The latest remake has received great reviews as well and is drop dead gorgeous, but with the game already having been remastered in 2011, there was some lingering skepticism over how the game will do in actual sales.

Fortunately for Sony, it turns out that the remake has almost doubled the sales of the original in mere days after launch, and that’s only counting the physical copies in the United Kingdom. Chart-Track’s research claims that sales are up as much 73 percent compared to the original game and “it is the 8th different Sony-format exclusive to reach No1 so far this year.”

Much like the original game, the remake rapidly climbed to the top spot in the UK physical copy charts. Once digital sales numbers are in however, you can rest assured that the original sales will be doubled, easily. Furthermore, if these initial numbers are anything to go by, Shadow of the Colossus is getting a new lease of life.

The new remake was made by Bluepoint, the same company Sony hired to do the PS3 remaster back in 2011. That was a much easier task however, seeing as how the game didn't have to be built from the ground up. Additionally, it has been said that both the original and the PS4 remake run on the same code.

In the end Bluepoint delivered in style, and then some. Numbers aside, the game is stunningly beautiful, runs great and to be fair - calling it a remake doesn't really do it justice. This is no mere reskin or HD texture bump we're talking about here. Unfortunately, it isn’t a brand new game either so I guess it’s safe to call it Shadow of the Colossus v3 - the way it was meant to be played. What do you mean the phrase is already taken?
