Xbox's exclusive Senua's Saga: Hellblade II impressed with a first gameplay trailer at TGA 2021. If the game looks like your cup of tea, here's everything you need to know about Senua's next adventure.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel to the BAFTA-winning narrative-driven action-adventure game from Ninja Theory, which joined Xbox Game Studios in 2018. Announced back in 2019, Hellblade II is built on Unreal Engine 5 and it's currently in full production.

When is Hellblade II coming out?

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II does not have a release date. It won't be coming anytime soon and if we had to guess, we would say that 2023 is a safe bet. We doubt it will be coming sooner than that since the project is rumoured to be much bigger than the original game.

  Hellblade II confirmed platforms

Microsoft confirmed that Hellblade II will be launching exclusively on Xbox Series X|S consoles and PC via Xbox Game Pass. Given that Ninja Theory are part of Xbox Game Studios, the game will not be launching on the PlayStation 5 console.

Hellblade II reveal and gameplay trailers

The trailer which was showcased at the TGA 2021 gave us a first look at the gameplay with some cinematic sequences. The game looks pretty impressive and it shows Senua and a group of warriors attacking a massive giant on the seashore.

The reveal trailer for the game was captured in-engine, showcasing stunning visuals and the world of Hellblade 2. We also got a small sneak peak at the gameplay where, once again, Senua and a group of warriors are taking on a different giant.

  Hellblade II story and setting

We don't know much about the story in Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, other than it's a sequel for the original. Players will once again play as Senua, who suffers from a psychological condition and often hears voices in her head. The gameplay trailer confirmed that the sequel will retain this part as well as Senua's general nature.

The game does seem to be much darker than the original though with the introduction of massive giants which we got to see in the trailers.

As for the setting, Hellblade II will be set in Iceland. The team visited the country during the concept stage and visited around 40 different locations that they narrowed down to "a journey that Senua can take across the country".

  Hellblade II music and soundtrack

Ninja Theory confirmed that they are working together with an experimental folk music band called Heilung to create music and sound for Hellblade II. Heilung's song In Maidjan was featured in the reveal trailer from 2019.
