GSC Game World actually released a trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 during the Xbox Games Show, lending credibility to claims it's actually being made, which was disputed due to the game's past.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was initially announced years ago but has gone through enough cancellations, drama and twists to fill the script of a soap opera. It is for this reason that fans were cautious when it was announced again, back in 2018, despite the hype generated from the prospect of finally getting another S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.
Info was scarce over the last two years and the fanbase started doubting that they would see another entry in the series once more but some of those fears were probably dispelled on July 23, 2020.
It was on this day that GSC Game World released a cinematic trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2m during the Xbox Games Showcase. Due to the cinematic nature, not much info was revealed but there are a few snippets worth of mention.
Both Pripyat and the Rookie Village are seen in the trailer, hinting that we will revisit these two classic zones that we saw in the original game and subsequent spin-offs.
Considering this is the only game to bear "2" in its name despite there being three games so far, it is likely we will get to play as Strelok once again.
As for the available platforms, we will see it on PC and Xbox Series X while PlayStation 4 will probably have to wait a bit before getting the title. One good part about that is the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass which is already enjoying a great reputation for being consumer-friendly.
The trailer states that the plans to release in 2021 have not been changed.
