Rogue Trooper Redux just got its first gameplay video detailing the updates made to the gameplay and controls. The video also introduces us to a couple of Trooper's fellow soldiers.
Rebellion just released gameplay footage of their upcoming Rogue Trooper Redux remaster. The first gameplay video is just shy of six minutes long and it talks you through the action you see unfolding on the screen.
Rich May, the original programmer of Rogue Trooper narrated the latest video. The gameplay clip showed the first scenes of the new game, but first, let's talk updates made to the gameplay, mapping and visuals. Mr May mentioned some changes that were made to the game's controls in order to "bring the game in line with what you'd expect from a modern cover based shooter".
The video shows the opening sequence of the first level, where we meet our man - Rogue. He lands in the Quartz Zone in a Dalek and proceeds to shoot some Norts' faces off. Shortly after that, we meet Gunnar. They are both genetic infantrymen equipped with biochips that record everything the GIs do on the battlefield. The GIs live on in their biochips when their physical bodies die.
Now, we are mere words away from some mild spoilers so if you want to go blissfully uninformed into this thing and you're only here because of the release date, turn back now and go read , there is no release date to speak of yet.
Are we good to go? Ok. Now Gunnar is a character from the original comic and he meets his doom quite early in the game. His biochip lives on, however. In. Your. Gun. Get it? Gun(nar). Maybe this is a chicken or the egg situation. Maybe his name prompted Rogue to plug his fallen brother in arms into his weapon. Show of hands: who else doubts that? I thought so. But he stabilises your aim when you snipe so that's neat.
Next up to arrive in his Dalek, Bagman. You already know where this is going, but a cool thing about this is that Bagman will manufacture ammo for you, once he's in your backpack. All you have to do is collect salvage around the battlefield. We haven't gotten a chance to meet Helm in this clip but, hey it's only the first one.
What do you think Helm will do?
Rogue Trooper Redux is due out sometime this year, for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch.
