PlayStation and Firewalk Studios announced that a new AAA multiplayer game is being developed by a team of industry veterans, set on creating memorable multiplayer moments for players.
Sony are back in the multiplayer genre, it seems, as they announced today that a new IP is being developed by Firewalk Studios, and it features a triple-A production.
Firewalk Studios' roster is filled with multiplayer veterans, people who have worked on games such as Destiny, Mass Effect, Apex Legends, which sounds very promising for all fans who want an exclusive multiplayer game (shooter, probably), such as they had in Killzone Shadow Fall by Sony's 1st party Guerilla Games studio, which are now deep in the 3rd person action-adventure genre (Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4), Horizon Forbidden West (PS5).
Firewalk Studios had this to say, and we can’t wait for them to reveal to us this new AAA multiplayer IP they’re developing behind the PlayStation Studios brand:
We’re thrilled to announce a partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment for our new, original multiplayer game. For our team, the opportunity to create new worlds and inspire more amazing moments for players around the world is the fire and ambition that keeps us going. The PlayStation team has a deep love and respect for the medium of games, and some of the best expertise and capabilities in the world to help make big ambitions a reality.
We’re already hard at work on the development and have been having a ton of fun playing our game as a team. In fact, while we continued to grow our team during this challenging last year, it was our daily online playtests that provided the most consistent point of joy and connection for our crew. The fun and laughter of playing together brought us closer, even if we were physically apart. Our goal is to be able to deliver that same joy to gamers and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on when the time is right.
The original news was announced earlier today on the Official PlayStation Blog .
