It's no secret Sony is swimming in money due to massive PS4 sales, but it seems like those sales are will continue growing for the foreseeable future. They sold 82.2 million units in total by now and 3.2 million in last three months alone.
These numbers came in Sony's Q1 Fiscal Year 2018 figures , so it doesn't get much more official than that. The time period of these sales was between 01 April and 30 June 2018, which means God of War's stellar performance could heavily impact the sales of PlayStation 4, especially after a bundle was released.
Sony acknowledged the wild success of the game as one of their main money makers, stating they "upwardly revised PS4 software sales to reflect the fact that [their] first party title God of War and other third party titles are significantly exceeding expectations".
This year may prove to be a gift that keeps on giving for Sony, as their sales seem to be primed to get further influenced by upcoming titles such as The Last of Us 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
They had their share of problems with the whole Fortnite cross-play controversy, but seeing these sale numbers actually gives some merit to their "we have enough players" argument. Still doesn't excuse them from crippling their players' accounts though.
Even though the sales numbers are rather impressive, they are lower than they were in Q1 FY2017, but it's expected since the console is nearing the end of its cycle and fans literally had years to purchase PS4 before 2018.

Lower hardware sales are being carried by exceedingly high software sales as they racked up $4,2 billion up from $3.1 billion Q1 FY2017. This is an increase of 36 per cent and the trend is looking to continue in Q3 FY2018 once Red Dead Redemption 2 lands.
One of the "third party games" Sony are referring to could possibly be Fortnite, as players are known to keep throwing their wallets at the game, but it's not officially stated anywhere.
