Harebrained Schemes have announced, on their Kickstarter page, that they will be working with Paradox Interactive in order to publish BattleTech. Paradox will be funding localisation, testing and assist with marketing, while HBS will retain complete control over development.
BattleTech's backer beta is starting on 1 June 2017 and along with that, Harebrained Schemes have announced that they will be partnering up with Paradox Interactive for assistance with testing, marketing and generally publishing their game.
"Paradox will provide marketing support, localization services, and funds for additional testing in exchange for a cut of the game’s sales. This allows us to focus all our efforts on making a great game while maintaining complete creative control", reads the announcement on BattleTech's Kickstarter page .
Paradox Interactive has a very good track record of not acting like EA when it comes to the publishing side of their business, so this might be one of the rare instances where publisher involvement is universally beneficial. BattleTech will be released on Steam, Humble and GOG.com, with the GOG version being DRM free as usual.
A showcase of what backers can expect to see in the beta is also available for anyone interested . The complete game will be released sometime before the year is out, and since beta testing will commence shortly, odds are good we can sink our teeth into some turn-based robot on robot action before the usual November AAA release mayhem.
