Paradox Interactive is opening a new mobile games developer studio in Malmö, Sweden. Their mobile game made in collaboration with Introversion Software, Prison Architect: Mobile, will be coming to a smartphone screen near you sometime this spring.
Paradox Interactive is a developer and publisher studio behind games such as Pillars of Eternity and Stellaris. Recently, the company announced that they are opening a new studio in Malmö, a city in southern Sweden. The new studio will focus on developing games for mobile.
Malmö office will be comprised of "a small team of experienced developers focused on bringing mobile gamers the kind of deep, challenging experiences the world has come to expect from Paradox". Paradox chose Malmö as the city to base their mobile games developer studio in, because of the "city’s rapidly growing development community". They will be working there shoulder to shoulder with "such peers as Massive Entertainment and Tarsier Studios".
Kim Nordström, SVP of Innovation and Mobile at Paradox Interactive said in a press release: "Paradox is committed to exploring new territory in mobile game development, and I’m eager to lead that charge". She continued: "Our plan is to bring the iconic Paradox style to mobile players across a broad catalogue of titles. To achieve that, it's important that we bring aboard the right people – people capable of delivering the kind of hardcore strategic titles we’re known for on PC. Games like Prison Architect: Mobile are just the beginning!"
Prison Architect: Mobile had a soft-launch in the Netherlands a couple of weeks ago, and it's now set for a spring release on iOS and Android. Paradox Interactive will be credited as the publisher.
"We chose Malmö because it has such a vibrant development community, and we know there’s plenty of talent to be found here," said Susana Meza Graham, COO at Paradox Interactive. "In the coming months we are looking to add several new members to the team, both in Malmö and the mobile publishing team in Stockholm."
