Overwatch's first year anniversary is going to happen on 24 May. Data miners scanned the Xbox Store and found the details about the Game of the Year edition as well as some info on the Anniversary Event.
Thanks to a data mine of the Xbox Store we have a couple of details about the upcoming anniversary of Blizzard's Overwatch. The event and the Game of the Year edition are highly anticipated as the game will be celebrating its first anniversary on 24 May. And there's to be happy about. In addition to making over a billion dollars in revenue, the game has had around 30 million players, and won numerous awards.
An Xbox Store scanning site called True Achievements dug up some hidden entries for a Game of the Year Edition that has a release date of 23 May, which is one day before the actual anniversay, and some Anniversary Loot Boxes. GotY edition will be slightly different from the Overwatch Origins Edition.
Lets break it down. Game of the Year Edition will be same as the currently available Overwatch Origins Edition with one important difference: it will offer up 10 free loot boxes and other cosmetic bonuses. The exact contents will include:
- The full game
- 10 Bonus Loot Boxes with cosmetic goodies for your Overwatch heroes
- Origin Skins for 5 Overwatch heroes
- A Baby Winston Pet for adventures in World of Warcraft
- The Tracer Hero for battling it out in Heroes of the Storm
The anniversary loot boxes will come bearing 100 new cosmetic items. The loot boxes will be available until June 5. Their exact contents have not been officially announced, but Jeff Kaplan made it clear recently that .
Since all Overwatch events so far have lasted for three weeks, that probably means that the anniversary event could start sometime next week.
