Jagex announced that Old School RuneScape is getting Soul Wars, a massive game mode where 120 players will face off in a bid for glory and rewards.
Old School RuneScape is the fans' regular dose of nostalgia but it also keeps getting updated with content that was added to RuneScape quite a while ago. It is not any different with Soul Wars, a game mode that was originally introduced in 2009, more than a decade ago.
However, Old School RuneScape is based on a build of the game from 2007, and as such it has never seen the 120-player game mode. The time has finally come for the hardcore fans to enjoy this one as well and as of January 6, 2021, it is available on this version of the game too.
In short, all those players will be competing to grab as many Avatar kills as possible. The players can team up in groups of up to 60 each and eventually gain victory points, which is a fancy name for a currency that is used to grab some rather interesting rewards. Furthermore, the players can use Soul Wars to enhance their Combat skills.
This mode is a pretty big deal since it was highly requested by the community as it won a player voting poll with a landslide as over 50,000 people asked for Soul Wars to come back. To put it in perspective, this was 83 per cent of the voters.
Just like before, the mode will be joined by the warrior mage Nomad who will return to host the minigame once again.
It's also joining Old School RuneScape just in time as Jagex are celebrating 20 years of RuneScape which went live in 2001.
