Square Enix have posted their financial results for the fiscal year ended on 31 March 2019, and they revealed that Platinum Games' action RPG has thus far surpassed 4 million copies sold, half a million of which came in 2019 alone.

Square Enix hosted a conference detailing their results, and as reported by The Wall Street Journal tech writer Takashi Mochizuki, NieR: Automata is doing great, with the GOTY edition proving a valuable asset.

Having launched in Japan a bit earlier, NieR: Automata was already off to a even before it launched in the rest of the world, but Square Enix announced back in November 2018 that it's past 3.5 million copies, which is in line with the half a million figure in 2019.

Kingdom Hearts 3 launch has apparently been successful, and the company is planning on more DLC to expand sales.

Left Alive, on the other hand, has been described as very disappointing, which is in line with the critical consensus.

Just to save you the trips, the game was absolutely devoured by critics, and its Steam reviews actually improved lately to Mostly Negative, and we're not joking.

The company said that they'll be ramping up work on new IP and Mochizuki tweeted that Square Enix "will start disclosing info about unannounced titles" as of this month, in addition to preparing multiple announcements for this year's E3.

The games that will be launching in this financial year, however, will be launching in the last half thereof, so there will be no surprise launches anytime soon.

As far as financial results go, Square Enix reported net sales growth, but a dip in operating income. They attributed the latter to the costs associated with the release of new titles, whereas the likes of Kingdom Hearts 3, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Just Cause 4 are said to have significantly contributed to the net sales growth.

Square Enix's massively multiplayer online role-playing department saw a dip in both net sales and operating income compared to the earlier fiscal year, but this didn't affect the recurring subscription revenue.
