FIFA 19 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have been overthrown from the top spots as New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe physical sales start strong. Nintendo's new release also sold 56 per cent more copies than the original Wii U version at launch.
New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe has sold more physical copies than Red Dead Redemption 2 and FIFA 19 in the past week according to UKIE sales charts. Nintendo's title launched strongly selling more than 56 per cent more copies when compared to the Wii U version which was released in 2012.
EA's FIFA 19 which led the charts in previous weeks saw a 52 per cent drop in sales while Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 followed with a 53 per cent drop. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe filled the gap by becoming the fourth Switch title to top UK retail sales.
Previously, Mario Tennis Aces, Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also started their first weeks on the top spot. The last two are also included in this week's list with Super Smash Bros Ultimate taking fifth while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is following closely in sixth.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is still in the top five, and the rest of the list is made of Battlefield V, Grand Theft Auto V which got reintroduced to the top ten list after dropping out, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and Forza Horizon 4.
The first part of January wasn't really a big month for game releases so these titles in the top ten charts aren't really that surprising. But, there should be some movement in the upcoming weeks as Resident Evil 2 Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3 and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown are just around the corner.
