A new PlayStation 5 model has been discovered on the Japanese storefronts, who are getting ready to start selling the console on September 15 .

Sony have made another revision to their PlayStation 5 console, which should start hitting the shelves on September 15.

The new model of the PlayStation 5 console has been spotted on the Japanese web storefronts that are getting ready to launch the sale of the new version at increased prices, as announced by Sony earlier this week.

It appears that the new PlayStation 5 version will be launching on the same day as the price increases globally, which is probably a clever plan by Sony, who would be offering a new, slightly improved version of the console for an increased price.

However, we doubt Sony will implement any major changes to the console's design. The last revision, CFI-1100, only made the console 300 grams lighter by changing the heating and the base's screw with a thumb screw and that's about it.

Sony are rumoured to be switching to a 6nm process for the PlayStation 5 chips, to get better yields and make the production process easier, resulting in more consoles on the shelves.

However, it remains to be seen if the new PlayStation 5 model gets the new chips or if Sony are saving this for the next revision. For the time being, this is just speculation since Sony haven't yet officially revealed details on the new model.

PlayStation 5 sold around 20 million units since its launch in 2022. The main competitor Xbox Series X|S from Microsoft is also doing well, reaching around 15 million sold units according to some estimates. Though, both products are well behind Nintendo Switch , which is still selling like hotcakes.
