The hard-working team behind fantastic PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 have released a major patch for the program, significantly boosting performance in The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 and 3.

PlayStation emulators allow PC players to experience Sony's and console exclusives from last-generation. RPCS3 is one of these emulators and it's made specifically for PlayStation 3 games. Thus far, the hard-working people behind this emulator have optimised a ton of games, which you can check out in the full list on their website.

Two games that you'll find in the list are Naughty Dog's heavy-hitters The Last of Us and Uncharted 2 and 3. These games have seen major performance uplift with the latest patch which is now available for download.

Previously, The Last of Us was unplayable due to low frame-rate and issues with some visual effects like bloom and rain particles. Luckily, this patch fixes these issues and improves the performance so The Last of Us 2 now run in 50+ FPS in certain scenes. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do in order to reach stable frame-rate that does not dip below 30 FPS but the RPCS3 team are nearly there.

As you can see in the second part of the patch showcase above, Uncharted 2 and 3 also look and perform great thanks to the latest patch. Both games can be downloaded here.
