Netflix have officially announced that The Witcher anime will be coming sometime in 2021 to their streaming service. The company also revealed the logo for the film.
The Witcher TV series have been a major success for the American streaming giant Netflix who are currently busy with the second season, which should be coming very soon. Shortly after the release of the first season of The Witcher, Netflix announced their plans for more Witcher content on their streaming service including an animated film, which would follow a different story.
Named The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, the film will follow beloved character Vesemir, long before he met Geralt. Here's the official description from Netflix: "Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise."
Today, Netflix have released more details about the film, confirming the 2021 release window and also revealing an official logo which you can check out above. And that's about it, sadly, Netflix did not offer any additional details but that should change soon as we get closer to the release.
The film is written by Beau DeMayo who previously confirmed that the story will exist within the show's canon and it's very likely to tie into Vesemir's appearance in the season two of live-action The Witcher.
Whether we'll see some other beloved characters in the anime, it remains to be seen but nonetheless, fans will certainly be happy with the film's direction since a story about Vesemir has been highly requested for many years now.
