NBA 2K20 dominates competition by setting an impressive milestone for the franchise

2K Sports' basketball simulation NBA 2K20 is the best selling game in September 2019, immediately becoming the best selling game of 2019. The game also set a record for best US launch month sales of any sports game ever ​​​​​​​.

NBA 2K20 has set a new record for the popular basketball simulation franchise in its debut month despite launching along with numerous other new releases. 2K Sports' title managed to top the chart and become the best-selling game in the month of September 2019, which also means that NBA 2K20 is the best selling game of 2019. Furthermore, the numbers mark the best launch month sales for any sports game in the history of US gaming, beating the record-holder, its predecessor NBA 2K19.

NBA 2K20 sale numbers also put NBA 2K franchise on the sixth place of the best selling game franchises of all time in the United States, surpassing Guitar Hero. Also, the game debuted at No.1, knocking previous year-to-date best-seller Mortal Kombat 11 down to No.2.

As you can see from the list, Gearbox Software's looter shooter Borderlands 3 managed to take the second spot and beat EA Sports' annual version of football simulation FIFA 20. Borderlands is also the third best selling title year to date, setting a franchise launch month sales record.
