Lost Ark restrict chat to deal with Gold Seller Spam

Where there is a large multiplayer community, there will be those that seek to take advantage of it. In MMO games this is especially prevalent and ruins the experience for everyone involved.

Lost Ark, just like any other good MMO, has an area-wide chat function. Players have started to abuse this, however, and using scripts to spam the chat with offers of selling and buying gold for real-life money. Amazon intend to put a stop to this by disabling chat for anyone below level 35, to target the bots as much as possible, as these are not leveling accounts:

"We are also aware of the increase in gold sellers spamming chat and are running frequent scripts to ban them. We will be putting area chat restrictions in place up to level 35 to combat the spamming in Lost Ark, and are also actively working on improving our in-game moderation tools. We will continue to monitor, remove these gold spammers, and take actions as needed. While we work on a more permanent fix for spammers in chat, you can create a new chat tab by clicking the “+” icon in the chatbox and selecting the chat types you want to include or exclude. This will allow you to hide area chat."

would seem that this time Amazon are being more proactive with their game, and will not allow Lost Ark to suffer the fate of New WOrld, with the amount of abusing in-game mechanics that went on in that game.

All that remains now, of the larger fixes needed, is for them to come up with a way to transfer player accounts from one server to the next, and the launch is a success in our book.
