In recent times, League of Legends has witnessed two major controversies, both revolving around skins. The first incident occurred in August when Riot introduced the contentious Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin skin, priced at a whopping $200.
Acquiring this skin necessitated opening 30 Dark Cosmic Erasure 2023 Capsules, each costing 750 RP, totaling an astronomical 22,500 RP, equivalent to $200. To make matters worse, this skin wasn't entirely new; it was essentially a fancier chroma of the Legendary Dark Cosmic Jhin skin, featuring minimal changes to its visual and sound effects.
Understandably, this exorbitant pricing and lack of innovation led to a substantial backlash from the community.
The Coven skin line
More recently, Riot unveiled the 2023 Coven skin line, which included seven brand-new skins. Among these, Coven Syndra was highly anticipated, with many players expecting it to be a Legendary skin, given how perfectly Syndra suited the Coven theme.
Disappointingly, Nami was granted the Legendary skin instead. Furthermore, the majority of players expressed their dissatisfaction with almost every aspect of the Coven Syndra skin. In response, Riot decided to delay the release of Coven Syndra to address these issues.
League of Legends: Coven 2023 skins
Now, Riot has disclosed the proposed changes coming to Coven Syndra, which include:
- Shifting Coven Syndra's hair color to Platinum Blonde, aligning it with previous Coven skins.
- Updating her Orbs with a new texture, resembling Heimerdinger's hairball orbs.
- Tweaking her headdress to make it more symmetrical and consistent with the classic Syndra silhouette.
- Adjusting her makeup textures to ensure that the feather element no longer obstructs her face.
- Changing Coven Syndra's sigil to better match the Coven theme.
These alterations are expected to enhance the appeal of the Coven Syndra skin.
As for the release date, Coven Syndra, featuring these new adjustments, is set to become available on the live servers with Patch 13.21, scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
