Since the start of 2023, Riot developers have been mentioning the removal of the Blind Pick game mode on League of Legends and replacing it with a new mode called Quick Play.
This change might be coming sooner than expected especially with the release and rapid increase in popularity of the new game mode, Arena 2v2v2v2.
During the latest dev diaries Jeremy Lee, better known as Riot Brightmoon has announced that Blind Pick will be replaced by a very similar game mode called Quick Play. Quick Play will feature a role pick along with a champion selection but will scrap the whole process of actually selecting a champion, instead, players will directly load into a game.
The actual time of this switch is unknown but it is definitely to be expected in the near future especially after the Arena mode is a massive hit.
The developers want to create this mode in an attempt to give the players a way of warming up quickly and efficiently as well as have a place where they can try out new builds and champs without having to commit to a 30-minute game or fight for their role.
The current state of the Blind Pick mode is very unappealing as most players only play it to level a new account or help a friend who is new to the game and lower than level 10.
Aside from those players, the mode is occupied by bots that fill up the lobbies so queue times are faster than that of an average Draft pick or Competitive game.
Overall, the choice to remove Blind Pick and replace it with a better, more enjoyable game mode does not come as a surprise and is rather anticipated by the community as League in its current state does not offer any challenging practice modes.
