Riot Games unveiled the ranked rewards for Season 9 and while pretty much everyone agreed that the new skin was rightfully given to Aatrox, many didn't like the actual look, feeling it is lacklustre.
Riot Games are keeping the tradition of rewarding the competitive players at the end of each season with a Victorious skin. Typically, the champion that gets designated to receive a new skin is one that had major impact on meta during the season.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Aatrox is the recipient of the new skin this time around as top laners tend to pick the Darkin that normally dictated the pace of the upper side of the map for a large part of the competitive season. Aatrox also proved to be a popular pick during World Championship 2019's group stage, even though it proved to be the most varied one with 99 champions played over the course of 50 games.
However, the design team seems to have somewhat dropped the ball on this one. League of Legends' skins tend to be of really high quality so Aatrox's new look came as an unwelcome surprise when players discovered it looks neither attractive nor different enough from his other skins.
The one they compare with the Victorious skin the most is Justicar Aatrox, which to be fair only has a slightly different colour scheme. There are only the screenshots provided by Riot available for Victorious skin preview at the moment, but you can compare the Justicar one with the image above and see the difference really isn't that big.
Furthermore, Justicar Aatrox is a better-looking skin, hands down, and players are already attempting to get Riot to revise Victorious Aatrox's looks, with some even suggesting their own edits . Let's be honest, that 3.1 edit suggestion looks fantastic.
