Riot Games continues to make changes on Ranked systems heading into Patch 26.3, with another emphasis being placed on high elo. Addressing the issues that have occurred with negative LP gains is currently underway, although these irregularities appear to only be occurring in select regions.
Riot confirms they are predominately at the “TOP” of the LoL ladder and are double checking theories internally before implementing precise solutions. Further tuning is being considered on duo queue at the extreme ends of Challenger with top 20 duos in mind.
Changes here will not affect the overwhelming majority of players but Riot wants to convey that they are essential to a healthy competitive ecosystem at Masters and higher. We can look to expect a Ranked retrospective on past changes and future tuning targeted at the high elo area within the next few days.
Game Metrics and Match Pacing
Match pacing continues to trend towards Riot’s goal heading into Season 2026, with snowballing potential sitting below where it was in Season 15. Games are even beginning to return to their previous duration averages.
However, due to there being less downtime and more “doing stuff”, games continue to feel a lot faster to players than previously and most seem to like that. Riot intends to stand on many of their bases here and only plans to change a few things if needed moving forward.
One such change is incoming with repeat kill rewards in Patch 26.3. Repeat kills had their rewards tuned down in Patch 26.1. Riot is effectively undoing that change to help balance out the snowball and comeback potential without over-incentivizing repeated kills on low health targets.
Objectives, Vision, and Early Game Impact
Although there have been discussions about the power of First Baron and jungler damage on objectives, Riot does not plan to make any sweeping changes to either in Patch 26.3.
Both of these systems will be monitored moving forward with changes potentially happening in Patch 26.4.Vision will see a small adjustment to nerf early game warding power.
The yellow trinket cooldown will return to Season 15 levels moving from 170→210. This change should help early wards feel less abusive and let early ganks feel successful more often, especially within the current jungle clear meta.
Item Updates and System Direction
Actualizer is being buffed to feel less like a “panic button” and be utilized in more scenarios than its current iteration allows. To account for the power spikes this item will receive Ryze will be receiving a small nerf to even out the changes.
Dusk & Dawn is being tweaked to play more like a traditional bruiser item by trading damage for survivability. Instead of just completely burning the item out, Riot intends to just nerf champions that perform too well with it.
