Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was announced and released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on January 25, 2023 and later on released for the PlayStation 5.
After a company-wide email from Microsoft's Gaming President, the developer studio of Hi-Fi Rush, Tongo Gameworks, was closed without any prior notice. The abrupt closure of the successful game creator studio has left the fans enraged, as they are reverse review bombing Hi-Fi Rush on Steam to catch the attention of Microsoft.

Since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in 2021, Bethesda Softworks has been included in the Microsoft Gaming Division. While Microsoft has not made any abrupt decisions after the acquisition was complete, on May 7, three Bethesda-led studios, Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, and Tango Gameworks, were closed following a company-wide email from Microsoft Gaming president of Game Content and Studios Matt Booty.
The influx of positive reviews is evident on the Steam page of Hi-Fi Rush. Players are expressing their gratitude towards Tango Gameworks, as they delivered one of the best rhythmic action games of all time. Moreover, they are trying to scare Microsoft as most players are extremely unhappy with the closure of three brilliant studios.
Microsoft has pushed themselves into a tight corner as their decision to close these studios has not sat well with the player base. Moreover, this adds to the disappointment Xbox owners felt after Microsoft announced that most of their exclusives will slowly become available for their rival consoles PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
The closure of a successful studio has left fans wondering what Microsoft's actual vision for the future is. Moreover, Call of Duty fans are also worried as they fear Microsoft might end up closing many Activision-led studios in the near future.
