If you expect Halo Infinite cosmetic items to be true to the franchise, you'll probably be disappointed to hear that 343 are going for some "wacky" cosmetics, according to the latest rumours.
Xbox's biggest exclusive in years, Halo Infinite , is officially set to launch later this year with a full-fledged campaign and free-to-play multiplayer. The decision to make the multiplayer free-to-play certainly surprised many fans of the franchise as well as those who enjoy shooters overall.
It's safe to say that Microsoft will heavily monetise the multiplayer with a battle pass and potentially an in-game store, where they can sell all sorts of cosmetic items, similar to how other free to play shooters like Apex Legends and Call of Duty Warzone work.
And while fans expect to see more realistic skins, due to Halo Infinite's art style, a well-known industry insider Tom Henderson claims that 343 Industries have all sorts of wacky stuff. Henderson tweeted that the devs could go down a similar route to Apex Legends, with flashy and bold cosmetics. One of the skins is apparently a snowman.
"If you think Halo Infinite cosmetics are going to be 'true to the franchise', you're in for a surprise. It seems like they are going down a similar route to Apex Legends to me, with a lot of wacky stuff. One skin appears to be a snowman to release around Christmas for example."
It would certainly be interesting to see how Halo fans would react to such cosmetics but we doubt there would be any backlash. Halo Infinite's multiplayer is free after all so there's really no room to complain about things that do not affect gameplay.
On top of this, there is no official info that "wacky" cosmetics will ever exist, so take this with a grain of salt until 343 confirm it.
