Grounded has been in early access for years but it's finally coming out later this year

Xbox exclusive Grounded is finally set for a full release on September 27, 2022, with a bunch of new content including a full story.

Obsidian Entertainment's "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" survival game Grounded is set to launch on September 27, 2022, the dev team announced via Twitter. Grounded was in early access since July 28, 2020, receiving many content updates and patches since then.

With the 1.0 release, Grounded will also receive its biggest content update yet, which will include a full story mode, new locations, animals and more surprises and mysteries.

"We're super excited about it [full release], we have a couple of months left of development, we're putting final touches on everything," said Game Director Adam Brennecke. "It's going to be our biggest update ever."

Interestingly, Brennecke also confirmed that the story will finally reveal how players ended up in the backyard in the first place. So yeah, expect a lot of questions to be answered once the 1.0 release finally drops.

Xbox announced recently that Grounded hit 10 million players across PC and consoles, which is certainly a massive number for an early access game.

It's one of the most successful new IPs for Xbox and Obsidian, who recently announced that Grounded is also being adapted into an animated TV series by Star Wars: Clone Wars writer Brent Friedman.

An impressive story for Grounded no doubt about it, especially when you consider that the game was made by a very small group of devs at Obsidian. A passion project that became a pretty big thing? Now, that's a story that everyone likes to hear.
